Keep moving between the movies
The Encounters Documentary Festival (Johannesburg and Cape Town) from June 19-29 leaves little time for anything else. The festival is always moving in delightful and hideous ways. Just reading about the movies and choosing which ones to see is an event in our household. Read more about it here
This year, more than ever perhaps, the festival covers so many events that deserve our attention and stories that are begging to be told. Filmmakers from more than 40 countries take on the tyrants, champion the heroes, challenge the corporate giants, and celebrate the angels and the artists.
We will be taking a break from the cinema on Saturday night to attend the opening of La Ronde at the Baxter Theatre. The “story of 10 recognisable characters from different parts of society, all searching for escape and connection through sex … set in contemporary Cape Town” sounds like a bit of escapist fun ... maybe …
Thankfully, there is also some inspiration to get us out of our seats this week…
On Saturday we will be observing The International Day Of Yoga at the event organised by the Consulate General of India at Kirstenbosch Gardens. If you didn’t register in time, there is always such a selection of classes at Call Off The Search’s favourite studios, Yoga Loft in De Waterkant and Kloof Lifestyles.
